The Bilingual European School in Milan (BES) teaches pupils aged 6-14 a mixture of IB and national Italian programs, with English language instruction.
The Bilingual European School in Milan prides itself on dual-language education for pupils aged 6-14. The school implements a 50% – 50% English-Italian programme with native speakers of both languages. The school aims to prepare children to enter either Italian or international schools to pursue their education.
The school teaches the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) at its Primary School, before at the Middle School integrating English with the core requirements of the Italian Ministry of Education including Italian language and literature, history, geography, science and mathematics.
The school was founded in 1999 as a ¡ continuation of the The British American Pre-School, and is the first and only bilingual school in Milan that integrates the Ministry program of MIUR with the Primary Years Program (PYP) of the IBO, both in Italian and in English.
The educational project of BES uses the teaching methodology developed by Project Zero, at the University of Harvard. BES hosts a Bruno Munari ® visual arts laboratory and it is also accredited as LEGO® Education Innovation Studio. The iPad 1:1 program integrates and supports traditional educational tools.
