Multilingual Book and Website Recommendations

There is a wealth of information on the internet and hundreds of books offering advice and support for those raising a bilingual child. To save you the hard work we have asked our members to recommend their favourites

A Bilingual Baby (Spain): I like this book by Annika B. It's easy to read and you can use her tips (some other books on raising bilingual children are not fun at all)

Go GranadaSpain (Spain) Here is a great little e-book illustrated by Katie Waple Watashino Arts “A little girl in Spain – disfruta la vida en el pueblo” about a little English-speaking girl growing up in a small pueblo in Spain.

Richard Alan Barden (Spain): ANYTHING written by Jim Cummins

Meyer Kim (Spain) TCK third culture kids is a good start with multicultural children. In Madrid we have a site called Sinews who are helpful on this subject.

Michelle Courtright (Spain) There are quite a few Multilingual Living Raising a Trilingual Child Trilingual Mama

Adina En (Spain) A few bilingual resources for small girls

Jane Mitchell (Spain) This is a really interesting and helpful facebook page - Raising Bilingual/Multilingual Children It's a group of intelligent, caring and non-judgemental parents giving each other ideas and support.

Connie Washington (Italy) The Bilingual Family: A Handbook for Parents - bought this 7 years ago after the birth of my first child, so it may be a bit outdated.  The internet is FULL of information on this topic now. I would search there before buying a book.

Valentina Pilozzi (Italy)

Leanne Bradbury (France)

Katrina Hart (France) We bought a couple of books that we found interesting - 7 Steps to Raising a Bilingual Child by Naomi Steiner and Raising a Bilingual Child by Barbara Zurer Pearson

Lucy McField (France) I found Language Strategies for Bilingual Families: The One-Parent-One-Language Approach full of useful info

Kate Eden (France)

Laura Wood (Italy): My children have always loved the stories and games on the BBC (CBEEBIES)

Veronika Tauts (Spain): One book that I found really helpful was: 7 steps to raise a bilingual child by Naomi Steiner and Susan L.
