One of the things we forget when we start the adventure and move overseas is where to find likeminded friends and new business connections. That’s why Ali Meehan created Costa Women in 2010 after many years living in the Middle East, Asia, Australia and now Spain. Social media was in its infancy and she decided that she needed to build her own network in her new home so she created a free community at costawomen.com . The community is for Women living in Spain, or thinking about moving to Spain.
The friends that you can make through Costa Women are just one of the many benefits of joining the community hub. Many of the Costa Women have businesses and 95% of them are solopreneurs. To support Costa Women in business, the community meets throughout the month in various locations, including online, to network, talk about topics which affect their businesses and their growth. Whether you belong to the business circle, or the VIP group you get support, ideas, collaboration, accountability and brainstorming plus advertising in the business directory.
Since it started, Costa Women has welcomed over 12,000 members with 137 different nationalities and organises 25+ social and business events a month in 38 locations around Spain and the Islands. In 2014 Costa Women took part in their first International Women’s Day Conference which continues to this day.
“Learning from my travels, I decided to build a space for Women to connect and make new friends and find real life, essential tips and advice about life in sunny Spain. We enjoy the diversity, cultures, traditions and values of all individuals from 137 different countries, including our wonderful Spanish hosts; we all have a story to tell. We are all unique beautiful beings who can communicate our own Youniqueness. We each have a different story, a different way of communicating, a different ORIGIN that makes us ORIGINAL!” Ali Meehan
