Janette Bremner Nurse & Health Visitor Janette Bremner, based in Benalmadena, Malaga, is a UK registered nurse of over 30 years and a practising health visitor with the UK NHS for over 25 years. She has a BSc (Hons) degree in Community Health and is trained in child health and development and in the many complex issues faced by families. She has also studied law at postgraduate level and whilst this was very different to her more vocational work, Janette feels it has enormously assisted her in having a broader awareness of many life issues. With her move to Spain Janette founded Maat Family with the aim of helping parents restore a degree of calm to life. She feels very strongly about not being judgmental of any parents who are struggling. There are always reasons things have become the way they are and however simple or complicated life is feeling she feels she can help it improve.

The programmes Janette offers are tailored to the individual parents, children, home, lifestyle and parenting goals. Programmes are offered by video conference and phone discussion, with email and text support if needed; it can also be arranged to see clients in the home if covid restrictions permit. Programmes available include: Sleep management packages, Feeding/ mealtime management packages, Behaviour management packages, Combination packages and Development assessment. Janette also offers an antenatal package comprising three contacts and postnatal packages comprising 8-12 contacts.  Janette has successfully run antenatal classes in the NHS and has supported thousands of parents postnatally as a family health visitor.

Advice available from friends, online or books, is only part of any solution involving babies and children. They create a very unique scenario in each family and this is where I can make the difference. What will really bring about change is understanding why children are doing whatever they are doing and how we as parents can, without realising it, make things worse for them and ourselves as parents. I can help parents work this out and can be a calm and reliable source of advice which is tailored to parents, their home, child and lifestyle for improved family life and enjoyment of life.” Janette

Thank you so much for all you have done for us. You were honestly a lifeline – so encouraging and warm. You made it very easy to approach you and that meant so much, particularly in Covid with little other support. I am so grateful for all your help and just knowing you were there. (Sarah)
