Opened in May 2007, the versatile Amitola close to Boxhagener Platz in Friedrichshain is a child-friendly café, a creative workshop and store all rolled into one. The little shop offers a mix of Berlin-made kids fashion and choice second-hand clothing for children. Amitola also has a playground, a workshops for children and they offer classes from doulas, first aid courses, baby dance, sport therapy and much more. Amitola staff are educated to be able to help train young people with physical or mental disabilities, and they are also available for hosting birthday parties for children. We were on holidays and discovered the cafe. It was fantastic! Lots of toys to play with for our 2 year old son, in a safe & fun environment WHILST we were actually having our coffee in peace and feeling first time ever totally relaxed going for coffee, not worrying about annoying people at the table next to us. Breakfast Buffet on weekends and the only children’s cafè with homemade lunch menu (nothing is fried). Everything is fresh and once the kids have finished eating, they can go to the play area, while the parents are free to talk. (Caroline Denby)
