Aquinas American School

Aquinas American School is a Catholic, college-preparatory, co-ed school that offers the US curriculum with certified American teachers, as well as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program.

Curriculum

Aquinas American School follows the national curriculum of the United States of America, carrying out college preparatory exams such as SATs and UNED. AAS is a member of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, under which it is fully accredited to teach the American curriculum overseas.

AAS is also authorised to teach the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, and High School students can choose between obtaining an American High School Diploma or the IB Diploma. Students can also sit exams for individual IB courses, obtaining IB Certificates, without having to do the entire Diploma Programme. Both Diplomas offer students the possibility of entering into Colleges and Universities all over the world. High School students are also required to perform 100 hours of community service during their last 4 academic years.

AAS is also a full member of the National Catholic Educational Association, an American voluntary association of educators and Catholic institutions. It represents 200,000 Catholic educators serving 7.6 million students in Catholic elementary and secondary schools, in religious education programs, in seminaries, and in colleges and universities.

Boarding Program

The school also offers a Boarding Program for High School students. All students are housed in the school dormitory in double rooms with en suite bathrooms. The boarding facilities provide various common areas, including a gym, pool, soccer field, extensive green areas, tv rooms, library and a cafeteria.

Sports

At AAS, sports and physical education are essential pillars in fostering students’ physical and mental well-being. Through regular exercise, students develop vital motor skills, coordination, and teamwork. Participating in team sports also builds valuable social connections, enhances self-confidence, and encourages resilience. Learning to handle both victory and defeat gracefully, students grow into compassionate, determined individuals.

The school also has two High Performance Academies: the Getafe International Madrid Football Academy and the BT Torrelodones Basketball Academy, offering students the opportunity to combine their academic development with professional-level training in soccer and basketball.

Fees & Admissions

Annual tuition fees start at 8,200 euros in Kindergarten and rise to 13,500 euros for the last 2 High School years, with 1,500 euros extra for the IB Diploma Program. AAS offers tuition discounts for families with more than one child. Aquinas American School is non-selective and the school assesses various aspects such as academic history, English level, individual evaluation, recommendation letters,

Location

AAS is located in Pozuelo de Alarcón, in the quiet neighbourhood of Monte Alina, a privileged residential area bordering Boadilla del Monte. It is a 25-minute drive from the city centre westwards.
