Canadian Island is an English-language preschool and provider of summer camps for families in Florence and the Tuscany area.

About

Founded in 1996, Canadian Island started as a provider of summer camps in English for families in and around Florence and the wider Tuscany area. The school has since opened a preschool, which was the first English-language preschool in Florence. The pre-kindergarten team is composed of qualified native English speaking educators. Days last from 7:30am until 4pm.

Summer camps at Canadian Island have been running since the late 1990s for children and young people aged 3 to 17. The summer camps offer a unique opportunity to learn English ‘by living it’ through a range of classroom and outdoor activities z- from horseback riding, to rafting to other adventures.

The summer camps are divided as follows: Kids Camp (3-6 years old), Junior Day Camp (6-14 years old), Junior Residential Camp (6-14 years old) and Teens Week (12-16 years old).

The company also offers bespoke touring, activities, services and lessons for international families in Florence. These include short term child care, evening babysitting, cooking classes, art classes and kid friendly museum visits.

Location

The pre-school and office are located close to the centre of Florence and the banks of the Arno river. It is a 10-minute drive and a 30-minute walk from the centre of the city.
