In January 2012 the Maternity Hospital in Ploërmel was the first in Brittany given the status of “Hôpital ami des bébés”. The objective of this label, promoted since 1992 by the World Health Organization and UNICEF, is to set up hospital practices that promote respect for the needs and rhythms of the newborn baby.

The midwives were lovely and the rooms very comfortable and clean. A reasonable choice of food for a non meat eater like me but not sure what I´d have had if I hadn´t eaten fish. Everyone was very friendly but I did get kicked out of my room four hours before my partner could come to pick me up so a mixed experience really. (Jenny)
