Children’s House Retiro

Children’s House Retiro is a Montessori school for children aged 2-6 years old, and based in the centre of Madrid.

About

Children’s House Retiro offers two different education programmes, both in English.
The school’s main programme is in the morning from 9:00 – 12:30, Monday to Friday, based on the Montessori method and philosophy. The class consists of mixed aged children who work and learn together.
In the afternoons, the school offers an extra-curricular programme for 2-6 year olds from 16:30-19:30. This program includes arts and crafts, games, art, music, excursions to the nearby Retiro park, and activities about science and exploration. Children also have access to materials that inspire open-ended exploration including blocks, puzzles and rhythm instruments.

Montessori

The Montessori method of education was developed by an Italian physician named Maria Montessori. The pedagogy views children as capable of initiating their own desire for learning in a sufficiently supportive and well-prepared environment. Grades and tests that pit students against one another to create hierarchies are discouraged.

Fees & Admissions

The Morning Montessori Program has a monthly tuition fee of 500, and an enrolment fee of 200. The Afterschool Enrichment Program has a monthly tuition fee depending on how many days per week the child attends. See more information on the school’s Fees page.

Admissions can be started by downloading an application form and emailing the school. Find the application form here.
