Colegio Mestral Ibiza is a largely Spanish-speaking school that has placed a strong emphasis on English language immersion, and allows senior students to study both the Spanish national Bachillerato qualification alongside obtaining an American High School Diploma.
Founded in 2001, the Colegio Mestral Ibiza follows the Spanish national curriculum of the Balearic Islands for pupils from nursery through to the end of ‘college’ (age 18). The language used for lessons is equally divided between Spanish and Catalan. But from secondary school students have five hours of English classes per week from native and specialist teachers, as well as with English speaking assistants. A number of subjects are taught in English aside from English language classes.
To build upon its multilingual education project, the Colegio Mestral Ibiza has partenered with the Academia Corporation, a leading institution in online education from the United States. The agreement helps students to obtain an American High School Diploma at the same time as studying for their national Bachillerato qualifications.
In secondary school, the school uses an ipad as the main transverse tool for education.
School fees range from 535 – 545 monthly. See a full list of school fees here.
The Colegio Mestral Ibiza has a strict selection process based not only on a candidate’s academic performance to date, but also on meetings with parents and their children. Care is taken to ensure that class sizes are kept significantly below the state school average. The admissions process can be started by filling out an application form here.
The school is located near the centre of Ibiza town on the island of Ibiza.
