Colegio CreaNova in Sant Cugat

CreaNova School Sant Cugat is a private school for pupils aged 3 to 18 with a real focus on creativity and innovation.

The school combines Finnish teaching methods of “Learning by Doing” with the methodology of the Pestalozzi School of Rebecca and Mauricio Wild, Maria Montessori, Piaget, Reggio Emilia, Dewey, Vygotsky and more.

CreaNova School is committed to multilingual education, with Catalan as the primary language of instruction and an increasing presence of English as a foreign language.

CreaNova is also one of the first pioneering schools to launch artificial intelligence learning tools in mathematics and the sciences.

Covering all stages from pre-school up to the second year of baccalaureate, there are no textbooks and no homework. They adhere to competency-based assessment and the LOMLOE curriculum of Catalunya. The school approaches each stage of learning differently, for a well-rounded education:

Elementary – Ages 3 to 11

The Elementary section at CreaNova runs from P3 to the 4th grade. First and foremost, the school prioritises emotional well-being and fosters respect for oneself, the group, and the environment in every pupil.

From there, their goal is to present challenges and opportunities for learning. They teach in the main language that is understood, then move on to other languages and cultures. The important thing at this stage is to establish a connection and feel secure within the group and the environment.

Middle – Ages 11 to 13

Middle school stage begins in the 5th grade and includes 6th grade as well as the 1st year of Secondary Education. CreaNova ease the transition between Primary and Secondary stages by grouping courses so that students start to share experiences that make the process feel smoother and less abrupt.

Secondary school arrives without feeling like a major hurdle to be overcome, and routines are adapted to focus more on autonomous work and the management of more advanced knowledge and competencies. Weekly records and peer presentations are still used, and deeper exploration is made in the sciences, maths, social, and artistic subjects.

High – Ages 13 to 17

The High school section starts in 2nd year of secondary and ends in the 2nd year of the Baccalaureate. During the high school stage, the school continues to emphasise emotional wellbeing so that learning remains a process of personal progress, full of challenges and options that allow for choosing an effective yet personalised path in small groups, encouraging teamwork and presentations.

Autonomous work is encouraged, and support is offered for professional guidance, with talks and visits from universities and other schools. The school also uses digital tools and advanced software to analyse, for example, gaps and potential improvement areas in fields such as mathematics.

CreaNova offers the Scientific Baccalaureate, Social Baccalaureate, and Artistic Baccalaureate (plastic arts). Through a unique blend of online learning, students can undertake a dual diploma combining both the Spanish baccalaureate and the North American High School Diploma.

CreaNova School is located to the North of Barcelona in Sant Cugat del Vallès,  around a 30 minute drive from the city centre. See a full 3D virtual tour of the school on their website.
