The Deutsche Schule Barcelona (DBS, or Colegio Aleman de Barcelona) is a private German school offering the German national curriculum.
The school aims to be multilingual, offering tuition in German, Castellano Spanish and Catalan from primary through to finishing secondary education (3-18 years). However, Catalan or Castellano speaking pupils who do not speak German will need to begin their study at nursery level, or undertake a preparatory course to begin class 5 at secondary school.
Upon graduation students gain the German Abitur (equivalent to Bachillerato in Spain or A Levels in England), which is also recognised in Spain and so students could continue to university in that country.
The campus, which currently has about 1,400 students, includes a spacious building with modern facilities. It also owns attractive sports facilities and much more. The Deutsche Schule Barcelona (German School of Barcelona in English) stands for: Technical and methodical learning at a high level of performance, Intercultural encounters and cooperative school environment, Consistent education in values: respect, tolerance, openness and fairness are particularly important, Education for self-reliant, dedicated people, Promoting creativity and a high level of education.
The school is located near Esplugues de Llobgregat, and is a 20 minute drive from the city centre.
Fees can be paid annually or monthly, and range from €4,800 to €7,600 annually, or €500 to €760 monthly, depending on the child’s age and whether they study for half a day or a full day. A list of fees and information can be found here for the 2021-22 academic year, though the page is in German.
