International Schools in Frankfurt
When raising a family in Frankfurt, one of the most important decisions is which school (and indeed which school system) to choose for your children. The city has several excellent international schools for each stage of your child’s education, from bilingual nurseries to leading primary and middle schools and fantastic high schools offering a variety of different exam options to suit every teenager.
Pre-school and early years options in Frankfurt include The Taunus International Montessori School in Oberursel, for English-speaking children aged 1-6 and the International Bilingual Montessori School. Both schools provide education within the Montessori framework.
Accadis International School in Bad Homberg is an international school that provides students from pre-school to the end of secondary school with a fully immersive English-German bilingual education (leading to IGCSEs and the IB).
Frankfurt International School is one of the oldest and largest international schools in Europe, following the IB World Schools programme (including the IB Diploma). ISF International School Frankfurt Rhein-Main is a private international school in the Taunus hills, offering a fully range of qualifications for bilingual students including the iGCSE, IB Diploma, American High School Diploma, American Advanced Placement and German gymnasium exams. This broad range of options is excellent for families from different backgrounds or those unsure of which academic path their teenager may opt to choose during high school.
Metropolitan School Frankfurt is an international school offering the IB World Schools programme from primary school through middle school, culminating in the IB Diploma for high school students. The school is also accredited by Cambridge International Education to offer IGCSEs.
Strothoff International School is a private, day school in Dreieich for children aged 3-18, providing an excellent education in a friendly and motivating environment. With teaching primarily in English, Strothoff is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School and pupils may obtain an American High School Diploma or undertake the IB.
For French families, there is also the highly regarded Lycée Français Victor-Hugo, (also called the Französische Schule Lycee Victor Hugo) in Frankfurt am Main. The Lycée is a French international school from “maternelle” up to the “lycée”, primarily following the French national curriculum, pupils can sit either the French Baccalaureate or the AbiBac (the French Bac combined with the German Abitur).
