El Higo, Granada

December 14, 2018 | Andalucia, Granada, Spain

Nestled in the centre of the Albaicin neighbourhood is this local restaurant. It opens mornings and evenings (longer hours in summer) but whatever the time, the vibe is always very relaxed. The morning menu features coffee and tostadas (toasted bread with various toppings), where the evening one is varied and often departs from standard Andaluz fare, with dishes on offer from homemade humous to fish dishes and burgers. Owner Alvaro is also a keen music fan and El Higo is equally known for the endless variety of artists who perform there. What’s more, all of this can be enjoyed year round: there’s a big, beautiful garden for sunny days, and a cosy, fire-lit indoors makes for a great retreat come winter.

An easy place to drop in on of an afternoon, especially if it’s nice enough to sit out in the lovely garden. That said, it’s definitely worth checking their Facebook page to see what evening music they have on, then book yourself a spot. You can see the atmosphere change from laid-back to rocking!
