Small group tours in Umbria

Elizabeth Heath is the founder of Villaggio Tours, a small-group, “hyper-local” tour company centred around her tiny village in Umbria, Italy. Originally from the US, Liz has been in Italy for 14 years, during which she’s established herself as a respected travel writer and editor and all-around Italy expert. Her writing has been published in The Washington Post, Travel + Leisure, Smithsonian, Discover Magazine and many other outlets, and she’s authored several guidebooks on Italy. She and her husband launched Villaggio Tours with the goal of offering guests a more immersive visit to Italy and an alternative to the cookie-cutter experiences that are all too easy to find.

As a longtime traveler and travel professional, she understands the difference between a travel experience that leaves a visitor wanting versus an experience that leaves them wanting more. Their fully escorted tours offer a slice of Italian life that guests won’t find in guidebooks, on big group tours, or even by planning on their own. Tours run from 8-10 days and include lodging in their medieval hilltop town, meals and cooking lessons with family, private tours and tastings, and all transportation within Italy.

This will be the perfect tour for you if you want to leave the trip planning to someone else and immerse yourself in the real Italy away from the crowds and tourist hotspots. Enjoy the peace and tranquility that Italy has to offer rather than the hustle and bustle of mass tourism.
