They have also trained over 1,000 teachers, enabling them to pass on their knowledge to a wide audience.
An Innovative Teaching Method
Sports at Energy Kids Academy are taught using an innovative teaching method created by their founder Lionel Sartoris. The ‘Sartoris Method’ is based on adapting teaching to the specific abilities and needs of each child.
This approach emphasises differential learning and the use of fun tools to make movements more intuitive. At the same time, it promotes the development of self-confidence, concentration and rapid decision-making.
Emphasising Adaptability Across Different Sports
One of the fundamental principles of the Sartoris Method is that the coach and the sport should adapt to the child, reversing traditional educational methods. Rather than forcing the child to conform to the sport, the needs and abilities of the child are the starting point for adjusting the practice. Their aim is to support children, helping them to develop at their own pace and according to their own abilities.
Furthermore, teaching in this model is also based on transversality, integrating skills from different sports. Research in sports psychology shows that young athletes who experiment with different disciplines and contexts from an early age are better equipped to excel in their chosen sport.
Differential learning also plays a key role in the Sartoris method. Putting children in situations of adversity – asking them to work with both feet, both hands or with one eye covered – enables them to develop valuable cognitive skills. This type of training helps them to adapt to a variety of situations, improving their mental agility and their ability to solve problems. These skills are not limited to sport; they are also transferable to many other aspects of their lives, such as decision-making, stress management and working with others.
