Etre et Découvrir is a small, international, bilingual Montessori school is based to the West of Paris in the leafy village of St Nom la Bretèche, just a short drive from St Germain en Laye and Versailles as well as other neighbouring villages and towns in les Yvelines including Plaisir, Villepreux, Fourqueux, Crespières,Mareil Marly, Noisy-le-Roi, Etang-la-ville, Marly-le-Roi, Chavenay and Feucherolles.

Etre et Découvrir was founded as a not for profit association in 1986. Their ethos is to develop the whole child in a nurturing, multicultural, bilingual French-English speaking environment. The school has three classes, a Toddler Community for 2-3 year olds, a Nursery class for 3–6 year olds (maternelle) and an Elementary (primaire) class for 6-11 year olds.

The Montessori Method was developed by Dr Maria Montessori (1870-1952). It is centred upon the belief that education should focus on helping children achieve their potential while building social skills, self-esteem and an understanding of the world around them.

    It’s very family-friendly and has really helped my daughter to build up her confidence and regain a love of school thanks to small classes – especially needed after we encountered challenges with the traditional French system. (CB)
