21 Nov Europeans in Catalonia
We are a non-profit association founded in September 2018 in Barcelona by 12 EU Citizens from 9 different countries living in Catalonia, Spain aimed at representing the rights and interest of Europeans in Catalonia and to promote the European Union, its values and objectives, with a special effort on encouraging EU citizens to vote, strengthening a united and strong Europe.
We are politically concerned but not linked with any political party, and we are in contact with many other organisations in Spain and in other EU countries and the EU administration and institutions.
We care about EU Citizens rights, and promote the right to vote and campaign so that foreigners have access to exercise that right not only in the Municipal and European elections, but we are also asking for the transferability of our voting right from our home country to our destination country so we can vote in all other elections, including the ones to elect National Governments and Regional Parliaments in all EU Regions and Countries. This is so that we can enjoy the equality of rights and obligations that the EU purports for all EU citizens and also so we can fully integrate in out destination country.
Voting for EU Citizens
EU Citizens living in Catalonia currently have the right to vote on Municipal elections and on European elections. For now EU Citizens cannot vote for the National or Regional Governments of the countries where they live.
