Faunia, Madrid

Faunia is a zoo and a botanical garden located in Madrid. It covers about fourteen square hectares and is organised into areas representing different ecosystems. Here you could start your day in the jungle and finish up with a stroll through a Mediterranean forest, feeding various animals along the way. The whole family can experience 8 different habitats and natural environments from the remotest areas of the planet. It is suitable for all ages.

    Both my 3 and 5 year old love going to see the penguins, the Vietnamese potbellied pigs and getting caught in the simulated tropical thunderstorms. There are also opportunities to pet and fee some of the animals. (Anne Lennon)
