There’s a saying in Munich that winter snow is caused by witches shaking out their eiderdowns in the mountains, and here you can visit them. The Witches’ Water is a theme park at the middle station of the cable car at Söll in Tyrol, Austria. Although Hexnwasser is in Austria, Söll is around 120km away from Munich, so is perfect for a day trip. Get the cable car up to the top where the witches wait, and spend a fantastic day in their company. You can see the witches from May to October.

A great place to spend a warm sunny day with plenty of water play (do bring towels!) bare foot trails and countless other witch themed attractions. If you forget your picnic, the Gasthof serves a decent lunch too. (Emma Coombs)
