After the devastating effects that the DANA has had in Valencia in recent days, we hope that you and your families and friends are safe and well.
We at MumAbroad want to do all we can to help those who have been affected and after speaking directly to the DANA warriors they have told us that these three charities are best to receive financial donations:
Donations can also been sent directly to the Valencia Food Bank (Banco de Alimentos Valencia): ES86 2100 2806 6402 0009 8998
Dana Warriors has also activated an account with the Ibercaja Sustainable Foundation, which in turn supports the Valencia Red Cross ES55 2085 0103 9603 3317 9067
If you have local collection points the products most needed now on the ground are:
Milk, precooked food, baby food, baby diapers, feminine hygiene products, cleaning gloves, shovel, brooms, rubber boots, bleach and cloths.
About the DANA Warriors:
The DANA Warriors are a group of dedicated volunteers who have come together in the wake of the catastrophy that recently struck Valencia. Named after the meteorological phenomenon Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos (DANA) that triggered the floods, the volunteers embody resilience, solidarity, and community spirit.
Working tirelessly on the ground, the DANA Warriors are providing crucial support to those affected—helping clear mud and debris, distributing essential supplies, and offering emotional support to flood victims. Their efforts demonstrate the power of community mobilisation and selflessness in times of crisis.
Thankyou in advance for any support you are able to give.
I was contracted by Javea Town council to travel to the worst affected areas 2 weeks afterwards. My brief was to photograph and create a video highlighting this catastrophe in the Costa Blanca region. I was truly moved by the amount of volunteers that had turned up to help clean and distribute food and supplies to the most vulnerable people. A truly moving moment in amongst all the devastation…
