The British College of Gavà is the only school in Catalonia and the second in Spain to offer the IB Career-Related Programmes (IBCP)
As we face one of the most critical points in human history, there has never been a better time to start preparing for a career in sustainability.
The British College of Gavà launches a revolutionary education programme for the first time in Spain for children between 16 and 18 years old. The International Baccalaureate Career-Related Programme (IBCP) with Pathways in Sustainability is a unique pre-university programme, career-focused with an international perspective.
This educational framework prepares students for the future of work across different fields, from finance and digitalization to hospitality or fashion, while they continue to deepen their academic knowledge, develop sound interpersonal skills and grow into principled, open-minded global citizens.
The International Baccalaureate offers two different programmes for high school students: the Diploma Programme and the Career-related Programme.
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Career-related Programme (CP) is a framework of international education that incorporates the values of the IB into a unique programme for young people who are interested in management. Students study 2 to 3 IB Diploma Programme subjects, 4 IB Core subjects and a Career related study component with Sustainability Management School (SUMAS). The programme leads to further/higher education, apprenticeships or employment.
Upon completion of the IB Career-related Programme at BCG in collaboration with SUMAS students will obtain direct entry to SUMAS Bachelors programmes and receive 21 US academic credits to fast-track bachelor studies in only 5 semesters.
Both the IB Diploma Programme and IB Career-related Programmes are offered to students at BCG. This is an important decision for young people and the school offers support and guidance to ensure that each student finds the best pathway for them. Nonetheless, for students who want to complement traditional learning with the practicality of career-based studies, the IB Career-Related Programme would be a good option.
In a nutshell, our Pathways in Sustainability are suitable for children with a strong interest in becoming environmental change-makers, who want to participate in practical work placements at companies to gain an insight into a ‘real-life’ working environment and those that may benefit from an alternative, more flexible way of learning.
