Creative Workshop Holidays in the Pyrenees
Katrien Claus, a Belgian, was one of the pioneers of showing Barcelona in an alternative way. For the last 18 years she has been organising all kinds of original tours & activities, specializing in different themes such as cooking, arts, architecture, urban development, street art and design. These are not just for people visiting, but also for foreigners who have made Barcelona their home and want to get to know the nooks and crannies of this vibrant city.
After having lived in Barcelona for 18 years, Katrien was ready for some peace and quiet and went to live in a stunning village in the Catalan Pyrenees. As the cooking classes and culinary tours were always her favourites in Barcelona, she decided to organise culinary holidays (and any kind of creative holidays!) in her new home. With all the ingredients close at hand (picked from her own kitchen garden or locally sourced), it seemed like the ideal place! Instead of slavishly following the latest cooking trends, she gets you to rely more on your senses again, to work more with intuition. Other sources of inspiration? The mood we’re in, the weather, our travels, experiences, memories, a charismatic character, a certain atmosphere, the love we feel… all of them can be used to add a bit of magic in the kitchen. The culinary holidays is just one part of the project Montepallars, apart from that there is yoga, body awareness, painting, drawing …you name it!
The idea is that you can indulge in a completely new experience or fully focus on your true passion. These are both workshops and holidays: for half the day, experienced and enthusiastic teachers will inspire and guide you in your creative process, whilst the other half is left to enjoy the unspoilt surroundings. In all the workshops, nature—probably the greatest work of art—will provide the starting point to inspire your creativity. The participants will be accommodated in a range of charming houses in the village and will be pampered with healthy and delicious home-cooked food.

What we like about them
In their own words
I’m 100 % sure we all have a healthy dose of creativity, but sometimes we simply can’t access it because we get lost in our daily routine or plan far too much, wasting valuable energy. We lose sight of what we really want. Our creative side simply falls asleep. Doing some something creative can really help you the live the moment, to carpe that diem. Being passionate about something enjoying the flow of things without any specific aim take to you to some kind of heavenly trance. And these can be the very happiest moments!” Katrien
