New York has Central Park – and Berlin boasts the popular Tiergarten Park. The Tiergarten is Berlin’s most popular inner-city park, located in the district of the same name. The park is 210 hectares in size and is among the largest urban gardens of Germany. The park has many locations perfect for a family picnic in the summer, and in the winter you may be able to go ice-skating. Similarly, if you fancy a jog or game of football, Tiergarten is the place to go.

The Tiergarten is a huge park (Berlins biggest) with plenty of space for the kids to run and expore. It makes a welcome relief from the city and is right in the centre. We often take our bikes and a picnic there (although there is a cafe). As we live in a flat and don’t have a garden – the kids just love the freedom here. There is also a lovely lake where you can hire paddle boats. There are lots of things to find in the park in different sections of the such as an infinity fountain, holocaust memorials, statues, monuments etc. My children also like hiding and making camps in the woods.
