La Bambouseraie was created because of the will of one man whose name was Eugène Mazel. He was a passionate lover of botany and started his first plantations at La Bambouseraie in 1856, acclimatizing exotic species from China, Japan, North America and the Himalayas. (Hannah O’Brien)
