Counselling for Neurodivergent Students and Adults Living Abroad

Living abroad can be exciting, but it can also bring challenges that are difficult to explain to family and friends back home. Building a life, adapting to a different culture, raising a family away from familiar support, or feeling that you should be coping better can leave you feeling isolated, overwhelmed or unsure of yourself.

Leanne Willmot is a counsellor based in Brittany, France. She offers a warm, confidential space where you can speak without judgement or pressure to have everything figured out. Counselling is not about telling you what to do. It is an opportunity to feel heard, understand what is happening for you, and gently find ways forward that feel right for your life.

Leanne supports adults experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, loss, change, relationship difficulties, identity questions and the impact of living abroad. For mums, this may include loneliness, the mental load of family life, changes in identity after becoming a parent, relationship pressures, or the challenge of caring for everyone while having little space for yourself.

A particular focus of her practice is supporting neurodivergent people, including autistic, ADHD and AuDHD particularly young adults who may be studying, whether diagnosed, self-identifying or questioning. You may be dealing with overwhelm, masking, burnout, executive-function challenges, sensory needs, or a lifelong feeling of being different. Leanne’s approach is affirming and respectful: you are not a problem to solve.

“Leanne is always so supportive, she listens fully, gives me the time and space to process and speak, and no matter what I say, there is never any judgement, instead she always meets me with compassion and empathy. I am truly grateful.”
