Lindsey Anderson Counselling

Lindsey Anderson Counselling was founded by Lindsey in 2013. Originally from Scotland, Lindsey is currently living in Switzerland with her two sons. Previously she has lived and worked in Rome, Nairobi and Johannesburg. At different times she has been a stay at home mum, a working mum, a divorced mum and in a happy new relationship mum. With this international and personal life experience she brings warmth, understanding and compassion to the adults and adolescents she works with so they feel heard, understood, supported and safe. By encouraging self-awareness and reflection with gentle questioning and guidance, she helps individuals find relief, balance and perspective to move through the difficulties they are facing.

Lindsey can help with anxiety and depression, separation and divorce, change and transition, loss, grief and bereavement, relationship and communication difficulties, relational trauma, and work stress, abuse of power and burn-out.

She has a special interest in women’s issues and knows from personal experience how difficult it is to be your true-self when you also have to be a daughter, mother, wife, partner, professional, wage earner, and all the other roles women have to juggle. She has been married, divorced, a working mum, a stay at home mum, re-located, in transition, frustrated and confused. Having juggled these roles and conflicting emotions, she can bring a depth of experience, empathy and understanding to her work with each individual person.

In an atmosphere of calm, respect and understanding people can talk openly and honestly with face to face or online to explore any difficult thoughts or feelings they are having, safe to be their true self, without worry of criticism, fear or judgment.

Lindsey uses an integrated counselling approach combining talking therapy with practical cognitive behavioural tools within a psychodynamic frame. This gives her the flexibility to talk to the client in the present, past and future to choose the best-fit approach, tools and techniques from various schools of thought to create a practical and personalised therapy that’s unique and right for them.

Lindsey has an MSc in Organisational Behaviour from London University, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling from the Institute of Counselling, Glasgow, in association with Glasgow Caledonian University, and a BA (Hons) in Communication from Leeds Metropolitan University, UK. She is a professional member of The National Counselling Society (NCS) , UK and attends regular trainings at Webster University, Geneva and in the UK to enhance her professional skills. She adheres to the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) counselling code of ethics.

She is also a Senior Counsellor with The Rome Institute for International Counselling, Coaching and Mediation providing individual services to help United Nations employees and managers deal with work-related stress, organisational changes and psychological health problems. She been in private counselling practice in Switzerland since 2013.
