Lyra Turnbull Therapist & Coach
May 3, 2021 | Therapists & Coaches Germany
Lyra Turnbull is a therapist and coach offering face-to-face appointments in her practice by the forest in Schmitten, as well as in Frankfurt, and online. Lyra runs a private practice offering communication and life coaching, as well as counselling and psychotherapy. She uses a multi-disciplinary approach and specialises in helping clients of all backgrounds achieve positive, lasting changes that improve the quality of their lives. Her main focus is helping clients deal with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions and addiction issues.
Originally from the UK, Lyra’s family background is a mix of European nationalities. Her formative years were spent moving regularly from place to place, but she finally settled in Germany where she has been living for nearly 25 years.
After having worked in the business world in London, she experienced the move to a rural community outside Frankfurt with her young family as very isolating. As a stay-at-home mom of 3 young children, she felt lonely and frustrated. Lack of childcare and not being able to speak the language well meant she couldn’t work, and for a long time she couldn’t imagine ever calling Germany home. But when her marriage broke down, and divorce followed, Lyra actively decided to stay in Germany and build a new life.
Retraining as a certified coach, counsellor and therapist while working part-time as a single mom took hard work and commitment, but the experience has helped her in her work with clients struggling to find direction in their lives.
Lyra believes in heart-centered work grounded in solid science and ensures she stays up to date with the latest research. She’s strongly committed to offering a safe, judgment-free space where you can try to find solutions that fit with who you are, with your life, and with your values. From personal experience, she realises that life seldom goes the way we expect. But, no matter what situation you are in, she is convinced that with commitment, patience, and the right support, positive change and meaningful transformation are possible.
What we like about them
In their own words
It’s often not things themselves that cause us suffering, but the meaning we give them. Therapy or counselling can help you find new ways of interpreting and navigating the world that can lead to a more fulfilling and rewarding life. Whether you are struggling to settle, worried about moving on, or dealing with life in between, I provide a professional, non-judgemental space where you can unload, step back, and find a path forward.” Lyra Turnbull
