Mosaiccos, El Born

December 19, 2017 | Activities, Barcelona & Sant Cugat, Catalonia, Spain

Mosaiccos is a mosaic shop owned by German artist Angelika Heinback who has been living in Spain for more than 26 years. She offers workshops to children and adults in mosaic art. Angelika teaches the ‘trencadis’,  the revolutionary technique invented by Antonio Gaudí which can be found all over Barcelona’s famous monuments as La Pedrera, Casa Batlló, Parque Güell and Sagrada Familia. In a 2-3 hour workshop children can make a mosaic coaster, mirror, small box or photo frame. Mosaiccos also offers birthday parties for older children/teenagers, to create and decorate their own mosaic masterpiece.

We love this place! For the past 3 years I have taken my children to do a Christmas workshop with Angelika. They stayed around 3 hours and decorated photo frames, jewellery boxes and star shapes as well as making fridge magnets. All were really beautiful and have made great Christmas presents over the years. Angelika is warm and friendly and has endless patience with the children. Be aware that you can not take away your mosaics immediately. They need to be grouted and then left to dry but they have always been ready the next day to pick up. I would recommend this for children 7 years and older. A 5 or 6 year old would need help from an adult. (Jane Mitchell)
