Things to do with Kids in Nice

Famous for its beautiful Mediterranean coastline and long pebble beach, lined by the Promenade des Anglais, Nice has fantastic outdoor activity ideas for kids. The city is also within reach of many nature reserves and parks ideal for picnics and walks in the region’s favourable year-round climate. From outdoor cinemas to adrenaline-fuelled canyoning, there are so many fun, unique and physical activities for kids outdoors in Nice.

In the hot summer months, life tends to revolve around the beach, which provides endless free outdoor activities for kids, swimming and playing in the waves.

There are many exciting indoor activities for kids in Nice, ideal for spending rainy days or taking a break from the heat and sunshine of the summer months. The beautiful French Riviera has a unique history of attracting artists and creatives throughout the 20th Century and is a cultural hub with many different indoor activities for families.

The Cote d’Azur boasts world-famous museums, galleries and exhibits dedicated to the likes of Matisse, Chagall, Renoir and Picasso to name a few. Little ones will love the bright colours and shapes in many of these artists’ works, and many of the local Écoles Maternelles (pre-schools) take field trips to the galleries to inspire their arts and crafts. Many of the museums host creative workshops and tours especially designed for older kids and families. For something a bit different, Nice’s Opera House shows family-friendly matinées on some Sundays (free for under 12s).

Play centres with ball pools and slides provide indoor fun for toddlers and little ones and there are plenty of family-friendly cafes with kid’s corners and entertainment to provide indoor activities for boys and girls of all ages. Older kids will love the bowling alley at the Acropolis, and there are numerous themed escape rooms in Nice, ideal for spending a rainy afternoon working as a team in a fast-paced challenge.
