There are many family-friendly activities and fun things for kids to do Florence, including theatre shows for children and a large amusement park complete with karting track, trampolines and adventure playgrounds, perfect for rainy days or cooling off in the summer. Things to do in Umbria with kids 

There are many great things to do in Umbria with kids. Perugia and Orvieto in particular boast unique and fascinating history, with museums and exhibits devoted to the arts and local culture. The region is home to many picturesque towns and villages, with ancient architecture and monuments to explore, such as the Etruscan necropolis in Orvieto. The region surrounding Perugia boasts several fascinating ancient caves that are open to the public, with some offering guided tours and others can be discovered at your own leisurely pace with a map.

 

Indoor things to do with kids in Umbria

The Borgonovo entertainment centre has great rainy day and indoor activities for families, including a cinema which often shows films in original version with Italian subtitles, and several themed restaurants that kids will love, including a wild-west themed eatery and a 1950s style diner. 

There is a fantastic indoor play centre in Orvieto, with dedicated areas for babies and toddlers, and one for older kids with slides, an inflatable maze and trampoline. There is a great pirate-themed play room in Assissi too, that hosts fun themed birthday parties. There is a popular cultural centre in Orvieto with fun things to do with kids indoors, offering language, arts, film, cultural and yoga classes and other inside activities for children of different ages plus workshops and support groups for parents.

 

Things to do outdoors in Umbria with Kids

Umbria is known as the country’s “green heart”, with beautiful Etruscan architecture and rolling green hills. Boasting very hot summers and mild to cold winters, the region is well known for its outdoorsy lifestyle and an excellent quality of life. Umbria has no shortage of beautiful picnic spots and walking paths for all ages and abilities for memorable days out enjoying free outdoor activities for kids.

Landlocked Umbria has plenty of places to cool off in the warm summer, with indoor and outdoor swimming pools and water parks in Tavenelle and Umbertide with flumes and fun outdoor activities that kids of all ages will love.  The beautiful nearby Lago di Trasimeno is also perfect for swimming, with boat hire available for fun day trips out on the water and fun summer outdoor activities for kids by the lakeside.

 

Things to do in Umbria with teenagers and older kids

Older kids will enjoy the many different walking tours of Perugia which provide a fantastic way to learn about the ancient buildings and art that the city is known for. Creative outdoor activities for kids include art-themed tours, scavenger hunts and more.  There are also several brilliant adventure parks throughout the local area, with daring zip-lining and rock climbing, archery, mini golf and more.
