For families moving to Milan, the city is hugely accessible internationally and has three airports. The city’s many museums and galleries are very family-friendly, with plenty of cultural activities for kids in Milan. There are numerous international schools and many highly regarded local schools too, depending on the languages and unique preferences of each family. 

 

Excellent day trips from Milan

There are also plenty of opportunities to escape the city. Living in Milan means you are in relatively close proximity to the beautiful lakes in Italy’s north. The four most important lakes are Lake Como, Lake Garda, Lake Maggiore and Lake Lugano. The area offers stunning Alpine scenery, a mild climate, countless resorts, as well as plenty of activities for families. Bellagio, on Lake Como, has been called the most beautiful town in Italy. The lakes are easy to reach from Milan by car or train, making them an ideal destination for weekend trips with children of all ages.
