Living in Girona

Girona Province is a popular destination for families moving to Girona, the coastal region of the Costa Brava and inland regions of the Alt and Baix Empordàs. Girona city is the province’s capital and is located in the North East of Catalonia, 99 km from Barcelona. It is renowned for its medieval architecture, walled Old Quarter (Barri Vell) and the Roman remains of the Força Vella fortress. Living in Girona affords families a wonderfully relaxed lifestyle, with quick access to cosmopolitan Barcelona as well as the stunning beaches and coves of the Costa Brava.

Expats Living in Girona

In recent years there are increasing numbers expats living in Girona, with international families choosing to relocate to this wealthy region thanks to its reputation as having Spain’s best quality of life, thriving local economy, stunning scenery and good connections with the rest of Europe.

Living in Maresme

The beautiful Maresme coast lies just North of Barcelona and stretches for around 50 kilometres from Montgat to Blanes. Living in Maresme means a commutable distance to Barcelona, an outdoor lifestyle, numerous sporting facilities, excellent beaches as well as attractive inland villages and beautiful coastal towns. Maresme is a very popular location for young families moving to the Maresme Coast with children.

Moving to Maresme

With an enviable year-round climate, Maresme enjoys long, hot summers and mild, sunny winters, ensuring an abundance of summer activities for kids and teenagers. Living in Maresme means that the Catalan Pyrenees are also just a short drive away, offering plenty of fun outdoor activities for kids in winter too. There are few places in the world where you can be on the ski slopes in the morning and enjoying a sundowner in the afternoon. It also has two renowned international schools such as Hamelin Laie in Montgat as well as reputable local schools popular with expats in Maresme.
