Located on the River Isar north of the Bavarian Alps, Munich is the third largest city in Germany, behind Berlin and Hamburg with a population of around 1.5 million. The city is a major centre of art, technology, finance, publishing, culture, innovation, education, business and tourism and enjoys a very high standard and quality of living. Good jobs, a clean environment, low crime rates, lots of leisure-time, cultural attractions and good transport links make Munich Germany’s top city and fourth worldwide according to the 2015 Mercer survey in terms of urban quality of life.

 

Munich’s historic city centre is predominantly pedestrianised and easily accessible on foot. Kids will love the famous Rathaus-Glockenspiel, a clock with mechanical puppet show which elaborately chimes multiple times a day. The Bavarian capital is also known for being a wonderfully green city, with many urban parks and gardens perfect for picnics and letting off steam with fun free outdoor activities for kids.

 

The Bavarian Alps are a stone’s throw away, meaning endless fun outdoor activities for kids in winter, with days out and weekends skiing and fantastic hiking trails for all age in the summer.
