Activities for Kids Emilia-Romagna

There are many fantastic indoor activities for kids in Parma and the Emilia-Romagna region. Parma itself is home to a plethora of great museums, exhibits and art galleries, displaying some of Italy’s most iconic masterpieces. 

 

The Museum of Natural History is hugely popular with families looking for fun indoor activities to do with kids in the local area on rainy days. Older kids will adore the Enzo Ferrari museum in Modena, learning all about the iconic cars on display and exploring the former Ferrari workshop.

 

There are several cinemas in the region showing films in original version with Italian subtitles, and a great bowling alley in Parma too. Most theatres in the region have family friends shows and events for kids, with some also offering creative workshops in the performing arts. Several fantastic indoor soft play centres provide fun indoor activities for toddlers and little ones, which also host great birthday parties for different ages. 

 

There are many family-friendly outdoor activities in Emilia-Romagna, with an abundance of green spaces in the region. The Giardini Margherita is a popular park in Bologna with a pretty boating lake & lawns, a jogging and cycling path and various play areas  providing great free outdoor activities for kids. 

 

The city of Parma is also known for having a variety of urban parks, from the best known Cittadella and Parco Ducale to the smaller Parco Ferrari, with a great adventure playground also. 

 

There is a wonderful tree-top adventure course for families in the national park of the Tuscan-Emilian Appenines, with picnic spots, archery, mini golf, playgrounds and many more physical activities for kids outdoors. The spectacular park of 100 lakes is located in the Eastern Apennine close to Parma, with outdoor nature activities for kids such as stunning hiking trails and cycling paths for different ages and abilities.
