Activities for Kids Milan

Milan has many excellent activities to do with kids indoors, including one of the largest Natural History Museums in Italy and a fantastic planetarium with amazing activities and a young astronomer’s club. Kids can learn about the science and secrets of space with special effects demonstrations and interactive exhibits.

Milan is also home to the largest science museum in Italy. Immensely popular with families, interactive exhibits include experiments and educational workshops. They also host amazing “nights at the museum” events when kids can visit the museum after dark with a torch and a sleeping bag. There is also a fantastic children’s museum with creative indoor activities for young children including play areas, hands-on displays and games. The Museum hosts regular creative workshops and activities for a range of ages and interests and is popular for birthday parties.

Older kids will love the city’s design museum, with various interactive art exhibits and a fantastic educational section for younger kids. The city also has plenty of indoor play centres, soft play, cinemas and a huge trampoline park, perfect for rainy days in Milan.

Italy’s second largest city is home to numerous parks and gardens for little ones to play and run around, with plenty of free outdoor activities for kids all year. The Indro Montanelli Public Gardens in the Porta Venezia neighbourhood is a fantastic outdoor space, with adventure playgrounds providing easy outdoor activities for kids and many different picnic spots.

There is a canal side walkway running alongside the Naviglio Grande, which is a popular walking and cycling route when the weather is nice, with some lovely walking routes and outdoor nature activities for kids. The city is home to a fascinating historic citadel from the 14th century which has an impressive castle and beautiful grounds to explore, and there are several open air museums and attractions including a “Forest Lab” (an educational garden dedicated to biodiversity).
