Healthcare in Balearics for Families with Kids | MumAbroad

Healthcare Balearics

There are numerous highly-regarded public hospitals in the different municipalities of Mallorca, including two in Palma, one in Inca and one in Manacor. The level of English varies from hospital to hospital, but the vast majority can provide translation services and will have English-speaking doctors.

Mallorca is home to some of the leading medical centres in the Balearic islands, with plenty of choice for pregnant expat mums seeking birth services and maternity clinics. Each of the island’s main towns have family doctors with regular walk-in clinics and day-to-day appointments.

For those with private insurance, Mallorca offers several private clinics also, with varying specialisms and  state of the art facilities. There are also a number of experienced alternative therapists in Mallorca, dedicated to health and wellbeing. The island offers a healthy and active lifestyle, with expert personal trainers, fitness clubs and group classes available.

The island’s international residents have excellent access to healthcare and birth services in Menorca. As the year-round population is relatively small, healthcare services tend to be efficient and personable, with an impressive standard of care on the second largest of the Balearic islands.

There is one main general hospital on the island, located in Mahon, with a dedicated paediatric department and experienced obstetrics and gynaecology teams. Each town on the island has a family doctor or GP clinic, so there is always a medical professional nearby.

For those with private health insurance, there are several clinics in Mao and Ciutadella offering private medical care with qualified specialists.

Being such an international island, with a large number of visitors throughout the busy Summer season, Ibiza has excellent English-speaking medical facilities, with English-speaking doctors or translation services available at most public facilities.

The island’s state hospital C’an Misses has an established paediatric department with state of the art facilities. There are additional “Urgencias” or emergency departments located near San Antonio and Ibiza Town.

There are individual family doctors and maternity clinics in Santa Eulalia and most towns around the island also, so there is usually a paediatrician near most families. For those with private health insurance, there are several highly-regarded private hospitals on the island too.

There are also a number of experienced alternative therapists in Ibiza with a variety of specialities dedicated to health and wellbeing. Whether families need a child psychologist in Ibiza or support with nutrition or homeopathy, parents have plenty of different options.

The island is known for its healthy and active lifestyle, with many different fitness clubs and group classes available throughout Ibiza too.

From English-speaking doctors in Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza to finding a paediatrician near you, this is the Mumabroad.com guide to healthcare services on the island, as recommended by local families. If you have a recommendation for this section please get in touch via email info@mumabroad.com
