November 23, 2017 | Healthcare, Italy, Rome

Established in 1869, Bambino Gesù is one of the most prestigious children’s hospitals in the country. Owned by the Holy See but part of the national health service (servizio sanitario nazionale) network, it is an important point of reference for paediatrics not just at a local but also at national and international levels. It has a modern and highly efficient accident and emergency department as well as providing the full range of diagnostic services, surgical care and other treatments.

We were unfortunate to have to attend the emergency room after a quick visit to Rome. After a long 6hr wait in the disgraceful Ostea Hospital, we drove across to Bambin Gesu and were seen within 5 minutes. The hospital was clean and the staff were caring and gentle. Luckily the paediatrician spoke fluent English and my daughter was x-rayed and bandaged up within 1 hr. (Natalie)
