Sant’Anna Gynaecological Teaching Hospital offers women care and treatment of all gynaecological conditions and disorders. The accident and emergency department receives over 30 thousand admissions per year, with patients being assessed by midwives upon arrival. Each case is evaluated and assessed individually, giving priority to patients with severe or serious conditions. Antenatal classes are provided by the hospital and are run by midwives, paediatric nurses and gynaecologists, with theoretical and practical information and advice being given in order to prepare women for labour. To book all appointments, including antenatal classes, specialist visits etc. patients must be in possession of a medical referral from their family doctor and ‘Tessera Sanitaria’.

I was really unsure about having my baby in this hospital because I had heard so many different stories from people and I was concerned that the care wouldn’t be so ‘personal’ as it’s such a large hospital, but I have to say that the care I received from start to finish was of a very high standard. I had a very positive experience here and the staff were professional and kind. (Lyn Gladwin)
