Every Summer, the banks of the Seine are transformed into “Paris Plages”; urban beaches lined with real sand, deckchairs, palm trees, street food stalls and games. The perfect place to cool off on hot summer days (they even install misting fans), Paris Plages runs from the Pont de Solferino to Pont Alexandre III on the Rive Gauche (left bank), and from the Pont de Sully to Pont Neuf on the Rive Droite (right bank).
Run by the Mayor of Paris, the project proved so popular that it was extended along the Bassin de la Villette in the northeast of the capital. With petanques, table football, volleyball courts, mini golf, watersports, outdoor dance and theatre workshops for kids, and a vibrant, sunny atmosphere, there is something for everyone.
