An hours drive from Munich lies the small town of Schliersee, and the quite wonderful Schliersbergalm. Park at the bottom. The comfortable way to get a splendid view over the Schliersee valley is to go up Schliersbergalm cable car. At the top you will find a hotel complete with a vast beer garden and plenty of things to keep children happy including minigolf, a trampoline and a swimming pool. And if you would rather not ride the cable car back down, you can opt for the toboggan run back to town.

The views are stunning as you might expect, and in the summer months, when you have all had enough, you can get the rodelbahn all the way back down – all 960 metres of it! A great way to end the day! (Emma Coombs)
