The Silo Open-Air Bath (Freibad Silo) is a heated, family-friendly swimming pool equipped with large lawns for sunbathing and playing sports, as well as stainless steel pools. Facilities include an Olympic-size pool (50 m) with one and three-metre diving boards, non-swimmers’ pool with water slide, wading pool, slide, beach volleyball field, table-tennis and sporting grounds. On top of this, new indoor facilities include a sauna and a fitness centre, making the Open Air bath a multi-purpose sport centre.

There are quite a few outdoor swimming pools in Frankfurt which are all great for kids in the summer. Our favourite one is the Freibad Silo as it has quite a lot of things to do in addition to the fabulous swimming pools For older kids there is volleyball, table tennis and mini golf and for younger ones a nice playground. There is a cafe there where you can buy food and drink and a large grassy area for sunbathing. (Emma Vincent)
