A co-educational, state-funded day and boarding grammar school in the Uk

Cranbrook School is a fully co-educational, state-funded selective day and boarding grammar school in the UK, with a 500-year history, in the heart of the glorious Wealden countryside in southeast England. It is one of only a small number of state boarding schools in the UK.

Students at Cranbrook thrive thanks to the breadth and challenge of their curriculum, and their emphasis on growing characters as much as minds. Opportunities for independent thought and leadership are many. Cranbrook’s boarders are the beating heart of the school and enrich their small community with different cultures and perspectives.

As a state school, Cranbrook’s boarding is incredibly good value for money – parents pay only for the boarding experience.

The school balances a traditional academic curriculum with a busy co-curriculum of competitive sport, music, drama, CCF, DofE and student-led societies. Their academic results are consistently among the best of state schools in the country, and our leavers head to a variety of top destinations, including Oxbridge and many Russell Group universities.

Helping Cranbrook achieve this is their expansive 75-acre campus home to a full range of outstanding facilities for drama, music, art and a range of sports. The school has multiple rugby pitches, an all-weather astroturf, a high-performance sports centre, an outdoor swimming pool, an observatory, a professional theatre and a performing arts centre.

Cranbrook School is a beautiful place to live and grow up. With 75 acres of green space on the site, they are an integral part of the aerial patchwork of the Weald’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – it’s fantastic for the wellbeing of both students and staff. The school campus is located just half an hour from the coast, and less than one-hour commute from London and its international airports.

I have two boys in years 9 & 11 at Cranbrook School, both with differing interests, and both thriving with the opportunities on offer; from competitive team sports and regular matches against other schools (rugby, hockey, cricket), to taking part in a Stem competition at nearby Benenden Girls School. The school also takes an active interest in out of school achievements, to the point that my oldest received a handwritten note of congratulations from the head last week following a national rowing competition – that’s a personal touch. I have two balanced, happy and well-rounded teens, all I can ask for at this stage in their lives.
