Teté Café Costura is a sewing and fabric shop in Madrid that offers fantastic sewing and design workshops for children, young people and adults. Located in Madrid’s charming Barrio de Las Letras, Teté Café Costura was founded by costume designer and stylist Teresa Barrera. The welcoming space feels like a tea room as well as being a workshop. Decorated with cosy antique and personalised furniture, the cafe serves delicious tea and coffee.
Sewing Workshops in Madrid
The monthly workshop programme is regularly updated on their website. Popular workshop themes include sewing for teenagers, Sashiko Japanese embroidery, how to use a sewing machine for beginners and hand sewing. The adult workshops are suitable for ages 12 and above.
Children’s Craft and Sewing Workshops
Teté CaféCostura workshops for children (aged 7 to 11) are both fun and educational. Held one Saturday each month, the kids carry out different projects learning how to sew by hand and by machine. This quirky fabric store/boutique/learning space is unique. Situated near Las Huertas, it caters for anyone interested in craft and vintage. The space is host to dozens of workshops, ranging from Fashion Men Workshop to Lady Gaga Halloween Make-Up and many Japanese crafts, including sushi-making and origami. There are also courses where children can learn some basics, and you can rent a sewing-machine, in-store.
