The British School of Almería is a private British school located in Almería, founded in 2007 (originally as St. George’s School). The school is part of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), a global education group operating 111 schools across 25 countries.
It holds recognition from both the British system and the Junta de Andalucía, and is a member of NABSS (the National Association of British Schools in Spain), subject to regular inspections accredited by the British Council and the UK’s Department for Education.

Curriculum and Academic Results
BSA follows the full British National Curriculum from ages 3 to 18, covering Early Years Foundation Stage, Primary, Secondary (Key Stages 3 and 4), and Sixth Form (A Levels and BTEC).
Students work toward internationally recognised IGCSE and A Level qualifications, while also studying compulsory Spanish subjects (Lengua Castellana and Ciencias Sociales) to obtain ESO homologation.
English is the primary language of instruction, delivered by native-speaking teachers. Spanish is the second curriculum language, and from Year 7 students choose French or German as a third language. The school also runs an external language academy offering Chinese, German, French, English, and Spanish courses.
In 2025, 92% of students passed their IGCSE exams and 96% achieved A–E grades at A Level, placing the school above the British national average. Students access Spanish universities via the UNED’s PCE examinations, with a recent cohort achieving a 100% pass rate and a mean grade of 6.97.
Location
The schools is located in the town of Roquetas de Mar on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. The British School of Almeria is a 20 minute drive from Almeria city, which has an internatinal airport. The nearest big cities are Malaga, Granada and Cartagena, Murcia.
The campus spans 9,246 m², with a 4,650 m² main building across two floors. Facilities include fully equipped science laboratories (Chemistry, Biology, and Physics), two modern IT suites, a covered heated swimming pool, an indoor gym, a climbing wall, a rhythmic gymnastics studio, a judo room, and access to adjacent municipal sports grounds totalling nearly 19,000 m², including artificial-grass football pitches and padel courts.
Fees & Admissions
Monthly fees (10 payments, lunch included) range from €684–756 for Nursery/Reception, €854 for Primary, €922–1,071 for Secondary, and €1,071 for Sixth Form. School transport costs from €109 – €197/month. Admissions involve a family interview, an English level assessment, and a review of prior academic records. The school currently enrolls 330 of a maximum 600 students, maintaining an average class size of around 20 pupils and a retention rate of approximately 90%.
