Online French Classes for Kids

The French Explorer School is an online French school for children aged 7 to 17. Having taught in international schools around the world for over 25 years, founder Anne Penez created the online school for children who don’t have daily access to the French language, as well as those who simply want to improve their French. Families appreciate the personalised attention, the warm atmosphere and the steady progress their child makes week after week.

Anne’s online lessons allow each child to progress at their own rhythm and according to their learning style. Sessions are interactive, playful and creative, using stories, games, visual support and real-life situations to make French meaningful and enjoyable.

The French Family Camp

To complement this online approach, Anne also created the French Family Camp, an immersion experience hosted in her family home in Vendée, France. So far, she has welcomed children from China who wished to experience daily life in France and strengthen their French in a natural way. The summer camp is intentionally limited to a maximum of four children per week (from 7 to 17 years old), which ensures individual attention, a caring environment and strong bonds between participants.

During the camp, children live “like French kids.” Each week follows a specific theme inspired by the children’s interests: fine art, cooking, academic support, sport and daily life in France. These themes give structure and meaning to the immersion. They also cook together, explore the region, read stories, enjoy outdoor activities and take part in hands-on projects connected to the theme of the week.

This approach transforms French into a living, authentic experience, far beyond what a classroom can offer. Children learn naturally through play, discovery, and shared moments, without even realising how much progress they are making. The immersion also reinforces motivation. When children return to their online lessons, they feel more confident, more connected, and more eager to learn.

“After 25 years of teaching in international schools, I founded this project with the deep belief that early bilingualism is a pathway to empathy, curiosity, and cultural understanding. When children grow up with more than one language, they gain not only communication skills, but a richer perspective on the world.” – Anne Penez

Whether online or in immersion, Anne’s mission is constant: helping children grow through language, and discovering the joy and richness that come with learning French.
