She is passionate about helping couples resolve conflict and enrich their relationships, those coping with grief and loss navigate their way to moving forward, women build their lives following trauma or divorce and teens and young adults build self-esteem and resiliency.
Mia works collaboratively with clients, utilising a trauma-informed approach and a variety of treatment modalities to assist them in reconnecting with and building on their strengths, including a variety psychodynamic modalities, Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Relational Life Therapy, Solution Focused, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Mia’s education, 20 years of work experience in various settings, as well as her own full and challenging life experience allow her to meet clients where they are at with compassion and empathy. Living outside of her home country, she understands the issues facing expat adjustment. While you may be excited about the new and enriching experiences you will have, moving is one of the most stressful life events and being far from family and friends can feel isolating. Mia can share practical advice to make the transition easier. She will guide you in navigating the highs and lows as you forge new connections and deal with the stressors of settling in.
Mia also works with study abroad students. It can be a time of great personal discovery but also feel lonely and confusing making new friends, learning to live with roommates from different cultures, and adjusting to a new school can be as overwhelming as it is exciting. It is common to wonder what you are missing back at your college campus and to miss your family. It can be a relief to speak to an English-speaking therapist who understands the issues you may be facing.
