The town of Torre Alfina is located about 30 minutes from Orvieto, near Castel Viscardo. Most come for its gelateria, Sarchioni, which has a menu of 20 or more ice cream sundaes kids can choose from. After gelato, they can run off their sugar high by climbing the towns winding streets to reach the gates of the castle, which is privately owned and closed to the public. (Elizabeth Heath)
