The Wellington Society of Madrid offer dozens walks offered by Stephen Drake-Jones, a history professor and longtime resident. You’ll get his lively perspective on topics including Hemingway’s Madrid, the Hapsburgs, the Prado and Modern Arts museums, and the curiosities and anecdotes of old Madrid with stops at historic taverns.
“The Wellington Society is happy to put together custom tours and tour packages. Whether you want to combine several tours during your stay, have a particular destination in mind, or would like to learn more about a certain historical period or event, the Society is ready to accommodate your needs.”

You and your teens might enjoy a walk with Historian, Stephen Drake-Jones. I’ve taken a number of walks and day trips to Segovia with him with teens. The kids just loved him. Be forewarned: He is quite a character; but he is also a brilliant man, knowledgeable about Spain and Madrid, and a great storyteller. (SF)
Calling Stephen Drake-Jones’ Madrid walking tours historic is certainly accurate, but doesn’t begin to describe the experience. Stephen, Chairman of the Wellington Society of Madrid, and an acknowledged expert on the Peninsular Campaigns of Wellington, is a familiar figure in the haunts of old Madrid. And his scholarship sits easily with the wit of the raconteur; his tours are always entertaining. He brings history to life for all ages. (The Wellington Society of Madrid)
