Living internationally changes the way you see the world, but it can also make genuine connection harder to find. Her Expat Life is a community built for internationally minded women, offering retreats, co-working and networking spaces designed around connection, growth and shared ambition rather than sightseeing alone.
We spoke with Mar Mollet, Chief Operations Manager of Her Expat Life, who explained why the community exists, and what she has learned from years of living and working abroad.
Finding a Global Community Through Her Expat Life
When people first hear about Her Expat Life, they often think we organise retreats. In reality, retreats are simply one expression of something much bigger.
Her Expat Life was born from a simple observation: living internationally changes you. Whether you move abroad for work, love, study or adventure, you begin to see the world differently. You become more adaptable, more curious and more resilient. But you also discover that building genuine connections can become surprisingly difficult.
Many internationally minded women are ambitious, independent and deeply engaged with the world around them. Yet despite living rich and exciting lives, they often lack a community that truly understands their experiences. Friends move away. Careers change countries. Families are spread across continents. Finding people who genuinely “get it” becomes increasingly rare.
That is why community sits at the heart of Her Expat Life.
Our retreats are intentionally designed to create something that doesn’t happen by accident. Rather than simply offering relaxation or sightseeing, we bring together women who share a global mindset, a willingness to grow and a genuine interest in supporting one another.
Our retreats are intentionally designed around a balance of connection, co-working and relaxation because we believe these elements strengthen one another. Stepping away from everyday routines creates the space to slow down, reflect and recharge.
But bringing together internationally minded women with diverse experiences also creates something equally valuable: the opportunity to exchange ideas, support one another’s ambitions and build relationships that continue long after the retreat ends.
There is time to work on your own projects, to ask for advice, to celebrate achievements, to discover the local culture together and to simply enjoy being present. Some conversations spark new friendships, others become professional collaborations or future travel companions.

The goal isn’t to fill every minute with activities, but to create an environment where meaningful connections happen naturally.
For me, this is the true value of the retreat. It’s not simply about taking a break from life; it’s about returning home with renewed energy, new perspectives and a trusted international network that continues to enrich your personal and professional journey.
The configuration is what makes it unique.
Instead of focusing on just relaxation or plainly touristy experiences, we carefully combine meaningful conversations, shared activities, local discovery and plenty of space for authenticconnection. Small groups allow everyone to be seen and heard. There is time for laughter, reflection and spontaneous conversations that often become the beginning of lasting friendships, collaborations or simply a trusted international network.
We believe that success becomes more meaningful when it is shared.
Many women in our community are building businesses, advancing their careers, navigating international moves or redefining what success looks like on their own terms. Others are planning the next chapter of their lives, whether that includes starting a family, raising children across cultures or simply creating a life that reflects their values. Whatever their path, they are looking for a place where they can be themselves without having to explain why they have lived in four countries, speak multiple languages or feel at home in more than one culture.
As someone who has spent years living and working internationally, I know how transformative those connections can be.
Being an expat taught me far more than how to adapt to a new country. It taught me to appreciate different perspectives, to become comfortable with uncertainty and to understand that opportunities often emerge through relationships built on trust. Some of the most important moments in my own journey happened because someone from another country opened a door, shared an idea or believed in me.
That experience shaped my vision for Her Expat Life.
I believe that in today’s interconnected world, globally minded women need spaces where they can continue expanding—not only professionally but personally. We need communities that celebrate ambition alongside kindness, independence alongside collaboration and personal achievement alongside collective growth.
To me, living a wealthy global lifestyle is not only about financial success, although economic independence matters. It is about having the freedom to choose where you live, the confidence to build meaningful relationships across cultures, the curiosity to keep learning and the courage to create a life aligned with your values.
That is the community I want to help build.
Every retreat, every conversation and every connection is another step towards creating an international network of women who inspire one another to live with purpose, openness and possibility.
Because sometimes the greatest opportunity isn’t the destination itself. It’s the people you meet along the way.
